Well done reasonably priced mojito and caipirinhas.
Brazilian menu: tasty, flavorful, colorful and fresh.
What can I say, it tastes like sun and samba!

And it even comes with live music every night!

John Dory Oyster Bar

You feel you step into a modern version of Jules Verne's Captain Nemo.
Shel and conch lamps, on black tiles, amazing salt water aquariums supported by heavy bolted industrial steel bars.
Amazing collection of oysters - east and west coast.
A great and unpretentious place where your taste palette gets a kick!

RAW BAR:
Oysters, east and west coast $3
Littleneck clams $2
Cold poached lobster with tomalley vinaigrette $18
Whelks with parsely and garlic butter $6

I couldn't help it and this is a total no-no to flush (some of) the oysters down with a 'Corpse Reviver'. It's a real pity to come here and not try the cocktails... equally as good as the Raw bar.
I confort myself by thinking that the acid and citrus flavor would go well with these saltwater beauties. Eventually I did get a fruity Portugese white wine for the rest (Vinho Verde, GRINALDA SELECCIONADA)

The Rusty Knot (bar on the Hudson Highway / west village)

Great place to chill over a couple of Tecate beers (mexican) - best served (maybe they only served this way ?) as a can, since the bartender places salt and lime on top of it. Very refreshing while playing a bit of pool,

Absinthe at Hotel Delmano (it's not a hotel!)

Good cocktails seem to be an easy find in Manhattan around. Nevertheless this is the coolest way I have ever seen Absinthe served. Full water 'fountain' with mini tabs to drip icy water on your sugar cube.

We might have some interior shots of Billyburg's first cocktail palace, but we confess to being too hung-over after our visit from one too many elderflower tequila gimlets, which is what happens when you ask the barkeep there to make you something with tequila. The cocktail list boasts of one original, the Commandant’s Cocktail (it contains pear cognac, Cointreau, lemon juice, and green chartreuse), but mixologist Jeff Hanson’s renditions of the Last Word, Corpse Reviver No. 2, the Hemingway Daiquiri, and the Seelbach Cocktail are plenty revelatory. As for checking into the Hotel when there’s no vacancy: the place is operating à la Death & Co., with a doorman turning away parties and taking cell numbers. One other thing: Barchitect Michael Smart took a cue from Pastis when he installed the gorgeous communal sink and subway tiles in the bathroom, but he managed to trump even McNally with the W.C. proper. Bravo! Finally, a bit of trivia: You’d never know it, but the place used to be a tattoo parlor. Now the only thing that’ll hurt is the check. — Daniel Maurer

Amazing open air rooftop bar

The staid marble lobby of the office building that was formerly the Victoria Hotel does little to prepare one for the scene on the 20th floor: If the 8,000-square foot room pimped out in walls of partitioned glass, dark op-art pile carpet, and purple fluorescent lights recalls Studio 54, it's because the owner, art collector Steven Greenberg, has spared no expense in making it as lavish as his previous projects, the Roxy and the Palladium. The Sue et Mare couch came from Karl Lagerfeld's collection, and a maze of other low-to-the-ground loungers such as a kiss-shaped velour loveseat are similarly flamboyant. The skyline twinkles beyond floor-to-ceiling windows framed by white curtains, but the scene is even more impressive on the massive roof deck where an endless array of wood benches and sturdy garden chairs invite no less than 500 quitting-timers and night owls to take in unobstructed views of the Empire State Building to the north, the Met Life building to the east, and Jersey to the west. As the palm trees rustle and the old-fashioned cocktails kick in, you can easily imagine Don Johnson landing his helicopter near the stuffed zebra and cruising for foxy investment bankers.
