Secret canal bar

Water taxis

This post is purely a warning.
On our way for an aperitivo at the Hilton Molino Hotel and feeling a bit lost with the water busses and desperate for a cocktail, I thought a little innocent water taxi ride wouldn't hurt. So I ended up paying 50 euro for a less than 5 min. ride across the canal!
Yes, I did feel very posh, very important and very chic and the ride i full moon was beautiful - almost taken our of a Fellini film, but it's not worth 50 euro! Was is a scam?? I'll never find out.
But be careful with these water taxis (who don't take credit cards!) they quickly become a small fortune.
Hilton Molino Stucky Venice Hotel

1895 neo-gothic style, Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is located on the Giudecca Island, only a short boat ride to Venice and easily accessible from Venice Airport. Venice's Newest Landmark goes beyond the conventional, located as it is in the spendidly restored 19th-century Molino stucky formerly a flour mill and granary.
Head directly to the Skyline Bar located on the top floor of the Giudecca building, the bar offers breathtaking views of Venice from its two panoramic terraces. The beverage list is a tribute to traditional Venetian cocktails but also offers surprising signature drinks created by the professional barmen.
A half floor up you'll find Venice only rooftop pool! It is breathtaking!

Venetian tapas

Venetian tapas also called cicchetti include baccala mantecato (salt cod whipped to a creamy paste in olive oil), castraure (fresh young artichokes), and a pistachio-cheese cream crostini. For the more daring foodie, try fopeti (baby octopus), sarde in saor (sardines marinated in vinegar, pine nuts, onions and raisins), masanelle (tiny green crabs, eaten shells and all).
Address on it's way
The venetian aperitivo

It's called Spritz. It's absolutely amazing and delightful.
At the bar you are immediately confronted with the question wether you are sweet or bitter in taste - because the Spritz comes in two versions!
Basically it's an aperitivo based on a sort of sweet/bitter alcohol mixed with either Prosecco or Spumante... but since processo are produced in the area you don't get to choose. Who cares, anything with bubbles are welcome.
So the sweet version spitz are mixed with Aperol (the sweeter brother of Campari) hints of bitter orange, rhubarb, chinchona, genziana and a secret combination of herbs. And the bitter version is the same, but with Campari.
It's now a national phenomenon.
