Hotel Akasaka Weekly Mansion

Everybody always complain about the expensive accommodation in Tokyo and I have the impression that it actually keeps people from visiting spontaneously and that is a pity. Astrid knew this hotel or should I say 'Hotel apartment' from her modeling days and it seems like a brilliant place to place people who don't know Tokyo that well since it's very central (close to Roppongi), which has all the basic services you need as a world traveller: like internet and a fixed affordable phone where you just pay a small amount up front and you'll be able to call out.

Of cause people traveling to Tokyo, at least the people I know, are interested in staying in a designer hotel or something that features the Japanese esthetics - well this is not of of them. Astrid told me (as a warning, knowing my extremely delicate taste of 5* hotels) that this hotel was really nice but really BROWN! Arriving to the hotel I must admit it was like taking a time travel back to my parents 70'ties kitsch dark brown bathroom.
But saying that, the place was really clean, it comes with a little and very practical kitchen (hot plate and fridge), a all in one piece 'Toto' bathroom (which Japan is known for) and a little terrace, brown slippers and Yukatas (cotton kimono).
There is no cleaning in the room but there is a little vacuum cleaner under the bed if things start getting out of control and for 500 yen you can get new clean towels and in the basement there is a cold water washing machine. The receptionists are super nice and helpful and will provide you with a neat list of services that you of cause have to pay for.
And since you hardly spend any time in a big city hotel and knowing that a good amount of international models (and Ballet National de Paris even) stay here - then it's good enough for me.
Money saved goes directly into the champagne budget.

For all this brownness we payed for two people 8.500 yen pr. night (about 70 eur).
